A powerful water tornado swept off the coast of Miami

A water tornado was spotted on the coast of Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida. The impressive phenomenon was filmed by residents and tourists in the village of Key Biscayne.

According to Miami CBS Local, the Miami National Weather Service confirmed the passage of a water tornado just 1.5 km off the coast of Key Biscayne on June 30 after 17: 00.

The water tornado occurred during a severe thunderstorm, in connection with which weather warnings were issued in several areas of Miami-Dade County. Meteorologists expressed concern that the tornado could come ashore, as it was moving along with the storm going in a north-westerly direction.

Later, the storm cell weakened, the rotation of the water tornado stopped, it gradually dissipated.

If a tornado hits the shore, it poses a threat to people's lives and can cause damage. The storm brought heavy rains and gusty winds to the Miami coast.
