On Saturday, July 10, in the morning, a large water tornado was seen off the coast of Singapore. The dangerous phenomenon lasted 10-15 minutes, the tornado moved small vessels in the harbor of the East Coast, there was no information about significant damage yet, reports The Straits Times.
Local residents, who were awake around 7 am, saw a tornado at the Bedok pier, many filmed an impressive funnel and shared rare shots on social networks.
A water tornado is a rotating column of air that draws in seawater, forming a funnel connecting the sea and the sky.
These tornadoes are short-lived, they usually last about 10 minutes. The wind inside the water tornado sometimes exceeds 100 km/h and can cause damage to boats. Such tornadoes can occur during storms and heavy rains if there are clouds of the desired type.
