Clouds over the volcano on the island of La Palma formed a pattern in the form of concentric circles, causing the admiration of meteorologists and netizens.
Over the past two weeks, dozens of earthquakes of magnitude over 3.0 have occurred in this area.
The volcano produced a plume of air, which, being warm, quickly rose up. Then it cooled down and, continuing to rise, crashed into a kind of atmospheric "lid" - a layer of hot dry air that came from the Sahara, a few kilometers above the ground.
The plume could no longer rise, but spread out and became flat. The eruption of La Palma occurred in jerks and provoked irregular tremors of the upward movement. Each of them caused a "gravitational wave" when the plume collided with the "lid".
The mechanism resembles how a float, if pressed lightly, will sink and jump out of the water, creating circles on it.
