As if it wasn't clear enough that we live in the most boring cyberpunk dystopia imaginable! Last Saturday, drones in China took to the skies to form a QR code image to ... promote a video game.
1,500 drones flew over Shanghai to celebrate the first anniversary of the release of a Japanese video game in China Princess Connect! Re:Dive, reports The South China Morning Post. Together with the QR code, they also formed an image of several characters in the game.
The light show was hosted by a Chinese video streaming platform. If you scan the code, you will be taken to the game's home page.
In fact, drones have been used for advertising purposes for many years. For example, Uber used them in Mexico five years ago.
Yet China has arguably become the biggest fan of such technologies. According to SupChina, the Hyundai brand recently used more than 3,000 drones to display its logo over Shanghai.
