The pollen in the air surrounded the Sun the glowing halo. Resident of the city of Szerencs, in North-East Hungary captured a beautiful sight on April 18.
"On the street that day was warm, Sunny weather with strong wind. Perfect conditions for the tiny pollen grains are raised and transported by air. I first noticed the halo in the afternoon and watched until sunset. Then in the sky the Moon came out, and to my surprise, she was also surrounded by a halo," — said the author of the image.
Pollen grains are very small, and when they accumulate in the air scatter sunlight, forming rings of light soft shades. Ice crystals or drops of water do the same thing. Spherical droplets lead to the formation of a circular halo. If the cloud is dotted with ice crystals, they may consist of points of light or arcs from different sides of the Sun or moon. The higher in the air the water droplets, the more rings.
