On Friday evening, January 10, will the first of four lunar eclipses in 2020. They will all be semi-transparent. In this type of Eclipse the full Moon is immersed in the penumbra of the Earth and becomes less bright, but not so much as in a regular Eclipse, when it is hidden in the core shadow cone.
To see the penumbral lunar Eclipse will all the citizens of Russia, it will begin at 20:08 and ends at 00:12 Moscow time. The maximum phase, when the Moon is immersed in the penumbra by 92 %, expected at 22:10 Moscow time.
However, the penumbral Eclipse the Moon only slightly loses in brightness, and to notice the changes, you will need special devices. The naked eye will see only darkening the bottom edge of the lunar disc, which will occur at the time of maximum immersion in the penumbra when the Moon is closer to the cone of complete shadow of the Earth.
During the period of the Eclipse, the Moon will be located in the constellation Gemini.
The next penumbral lunar Eclipse will occur on June 5 (56 %), 5 July (35 %) and 30 November (92 %).
