The flow of the solar wind with a speed of 500 km/s impacted the Earth's magnetic field, causing geomagnetic disturbances around the Arctic circle on Saturday, February 29. Photographer Thomas Kast captured the dancing lights from the coast of the Baltic sea near Oulu, Finland.

"Finally, I saw the Aurora in a leap day!" said Castes.

A strong wind moved the huge blocks of ice, forming long cracks in the frozen sea surface. In some places the water rose through the cracks to the surface, creating small ponds in the middle of the white ice is a perfect mirror for reflections of the Aurora.
