A bright fireball swept over the southern part of France on April 24. The celestial body flew over the Gulf of Lyon from Marcel do Montpellier at 20: 28 UTC, reports The Watchers.
The American Meteor Society (AMS) received 579 reports from eyewitnesses from France, Italy and Switzerland.
As noted by the observer from Saint-Maurice-de-Lignon, he thought it was a shooting star, but the fluorescent green color and orange trail behind the object surprised him. The flight of the celestial body, according to him, lasted about 3 seconds.
An eyewitness from the Courpierre region of Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes said it was the brightest meteor he had ever seen.
