The sky over the municipality of Orihuela in the eastern Spanish province of Alicante on Wednesday, July 3, was illuminated by a bright fireball, Euro Weekly reports.

A meteorite hunter and an employee of the Fireball and Meteorite Network Research Center (SPMN) Vicente Cayuelas managed to capture a photo of a fireball associated with a fragment of comet 7P/Pons-Winnecke.

An exciting sight could be seen at 04:29 local time.

The center reported that the fireball broke up over the Gulf of Cartagena.
