Siamese twin turtles were born in Massachusetts

A turtle with two heads and one body hatched at the wildlife center of Massachusetts, USA. Despite everything, Siamese twins feel good.

According to Live Science, the Cape Town Wildlife Center shared on social networks a photo of the cubs of the lumpy turtle (Malaclemys), which were born as Siamese twins.

This condition, known as bicephaly, is a rare anomaly that can be caused by both genetic and environmental factors that affect the embryo during development.

Like Siamese twins, turtles have common body parts as well as independent ones. In this case, they have two heads and six legs.

Experts have already conducted the first surveys. They gave the turtles a white powder that can be visualized on gastrointestinal X-rays, and found that each of the brothers has a separate gastrointestinal tract. One of the gastrointestinal tracts seems to be a little more developed, but both turtles eat and digest food.

The researchers plan to conduct CT scans of the turtles when they are a little older to learn more about the internal organs and structures they share.
