Garm (al.-skand. Garmr) — in German-Scandinavian mythology, a huge dog that guarded Helheim, the world of the dead, a chthonic monster.
It is believed that Garm was conceived by a giantess Angrbodoy from the god Loki. Garm is tied to a rock in an underground cave called Gnipa (Gnipahellir). It is believed that the entire cave is covered in blood. Garm is the largest of the dogs. Garm's howl will be one of the signs of the beginning of Ragnarok.
In ancient mythology, there is an analogue of Garm — the guardian of the underworld of the dead dog Cerberus (Kerber), whose name may be related to the name "Garm"
