The Nimerigars are a legendary race of little people found in Shoshone folklore Rocky Mountains North America .
According to Shoshone accounts, the Nimerigars were an aggressive people who shot poisoned arrows from tiny bows. Nimerigar, roughly translated from the Shoshone and Paiute languages, means "cannibals".
Although the tales of Nimerigar were considered mythical, the reality of the tales of Nimerigar was called into question in 1932 with the discovery of a mummy in the San Pedro Mountains, a mummy 14 inches (36 cm) tall (sitting 6.5 inches (17 cm)). Extensive research was conducted in a cave 60 miles south of Casper, Wyoming, as it was initially assumed to be a fake, but tests conducted by the American Museum of Natural History and certified as authentic by the Harvard Department of Anthropology showed that the mummy is estimated to represent the body of an adult approximately 65 years old.
