A supernatural female being or a vengeful ghost in Javanese mythology.

Traditionally, Wwe Gombel is depicted as a woman with long hanging breasts, and modern images include vampire fangs.

According to legend, a married couple lived in Bukit Gombel, Semarang, a long time ago. They had been married for many years, but over time the husband realized that his wife was infertile and fell out of love with her. The husband became wayward, neglected his wife and left her alone for a long time, so she lived in sadness. One day she followed him and caught him in a sexual relationship with another woman. Offended by her husband's betrayal, she flew into a rage and killed him. Faced with the crime, the angry neighbors gathered in a crowd and chased her out of the village. In desperation from the ostracism and constant harassment, she committed suicide.

After her death, her vengeful spirit became Vevey Gombel.

Sudanese folklore says that she lives in the crown of the Arenga pinnata palm tree, where she has a nest and keeps the children she catches. She does not harm them, and once in her clutches, they are not afraid of her.

Local traditions say that the children she abducts are mistreated or neglected by their parents. She treats the children with love like a grandmother, taking care of them and protecting them until their parents repent, after which she returns them.

Vevey Gombel bears a resemblance to the ghost known in Malay folklore as Khantu Kopek.

It is a popular spirit that also appears in comic books.
