Initial data
A. I. Veinik, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR:
28 Mar 1976 at 21.00 I watched the flight of a UFO in the form of a bright glowing white ball from the window of a room on the fifth floor of a tourist hotel "Itkol".
The night was clear, black, starry, moonless, discern only the silhouettes of the mountains. The UFO appeared in the sky in the basin of the gorge, donguzorun (Elbrus) in the area of lake Donguz-of Gunkel, moved horizontally in the direction from left to right with constant speed silently.
At first it seemed like a UFO hovering in the sky, but this impression is soon dispelled when a UFO appeared on the background of mount Cheget. Suddenly he turned at a sharp angle to the left and two minutes later disappeared from sight.
In daylight it became clear that after the turn of the UFOs flew parallel to the slope of mount Cheget. The angular size of the UFO was approximately 5-7 times less than the moon and as much larger than Venus or Jupiter. The distance to the UFO was about 5 km, it has flown by in the order of 2 km corresponds to the diameter of the UFO 5-7 m and airspeed of 50-70 km/hour.
