Not far from this city, a "jongari" (jongari monster) was photographed. Two local residents noticed a strange bear-like animal that some aborigines associate with the legends of small hairy people who inhabited the continent before Europeans settled on it, and took two blurry pictures of a distant figure in a grove of trees. Other witnesses described the animal as 3 feet (0.9 m) tall and bipedal. (There are no native bears in Australia).
