On May 1, a resident of the city of Livny in the Orel region of Russia in social networks told about a strange case. According to her. at around 6 p.m., she heard a dull sound from the balcony. The woman came to see what was happening and saw a smooth melted circle on the outside of the window. At the same time, the unknown object did not break through the second glass. The woman did not find any fragments, nor the object itself.  By the way, it was raining in the city that day.

According to scientists, a ball lightning could pass through the glass.

"We believe that due to the ball lightning radiation, the glass section is heated to the boiling point. Ball lightning, due to the action of an electric field that ”dragged” its elements through the glass, will break away from the window. The resulting hole will tighten due to the pressure difference outside the hole (liquid pressure) and inside the hole (gas pressure). The process of tightening the hole may be hindered by an increase in the viscosity of the glass when it cools down. It is possible that this was the scenario of the event that left traces on the glass sample we examined," the scientists wrote.
