This mysterious red light scared villagers as it hovered in the night sky in northern Thailand. Anusit Klangmu, a 30-year-old resident, was having a barbecue party with his friends when they noticed an object lighting up the night sky in Phayao Province last Tuesday (August 6).
The mysterious light could be seen hovering in the dark for about two minutes before it slowly fell and disappeared behind an abandoned temple. Anusit said:
"At first we thought it was fireworks or a sky lantern, but the light was very bright and lasted longer than it should, so we thought it was very strange."
Meanwhile, many elderly people living in the area believed that the strange light was a sacred crystal ball that would bring wealth and good luck to the villagers. Nuan Montien, who lived just 500 meters from the old temple, said that lights were often noticed around the temple, and this is also a cemetery. A 70-year-old pensioner told:
"We haven't seen the sacred crystal ball flying in the sky for a long time, until yesterday it appeared again. Something good always happens to one of us in the neighborhood every time a bright light appears. So I was very happy and excited to see it again."
