Initial data
Sosnovskaya Zinaida writes to the Commission on the:
I am reporting a phenomenon I have seen that I have not previously observed.
It was either in the fall of 1983 or in the spring of 1984 at about 9 o'clock in the evening. I live in Togliatti in the 6th quarter. I ran to the mall, which is located to the south of the house where I live. It was a warm evening and very quiet. I was struck by the color of the sky, something unusual. Lilac and dark lilac clouds floated across the sky, in places scarlet, red. I also thought that the sky is unusual, the Sun does not set in the south, why are there scarlet, red, purple stripes and lilac clouds?
Suddenly, right above my head, I saw a huge ball, larger than the full moon by 2-1.5 times. It was opaque, some kind of lilac-bluish. The balloon was slowly floating in a southerly direction, much higher than the two-and-a-half-story buildings and the eleven-story ones, but it seemed that it was not very high. I stood and looked. The balloon sailed away over the sea somewhere. The red stripes gradually disappeared, and the lilac and gray clouds still remained.
This ball was seen by many in both 1 and 4 blocks, everyone looked with curiosity.
Of course, if I had written right away, there would have been more impressions. Maybe someone else will write.
