Initial data
Unknown object over northern Manitoba
My colleague (an airline pilot) took these photos in November or December last year, that is, just a couple of months ago.
Unfortunately, I don't have the original copies, only smaller versions, but I could probably get them.
They were taken from the cockpit above Lake Winnipeg, which is located in the north of Manitoba, Canada.
The detail is not very good, but does anyone have an idea of what it is? This was not the case in TCAS, and ATC did not have a primary purpose iirc.

Hypotheses
Boat (watercraft)
Any watercraft, particularly of unusual shape, can be made for NGOs.
Watercraft (i.e. "craft") is self-propelled or non-self-propelled floating structure used in a water environment. These include: a warship, cargo ship, barge, pontoon, floating berth, yacht, oil platform, raft, fishing boat, submarine, submersible, floating crane, etc.
Such vessels can have not only an unusual shape but colour, be equipped with illumination, and also have sails and other protruding parts.
The reflection on the glass
The object may be reflected light or any light source. The type of source (lamp, lantern, lampshade, glare from the mirrors of any shape and .t.n.) and the type of reflective glass in the photo can be crosses, circles, objects bizarre.

Pyrotechnics
This category includes not only pyrotechnic projectiles visible in the sky, but also traces of exploded projectiles, their fragments and other similar activities.
Pyrotechnics is a branch of technology related to the technology of preparing combustible compounds and burning them to obtain a certain signal or effect.
Divided into:
Substance
It is observed only with the mountain or the plane is a somewhat elongated unpainted reflection. The sun is reflected in the surface of the water, but on the cloud (looks especially impressive on almost transparent haze). A relatively sharp image is obtained through a cloud of ice plates .
Often perceived as a UFO "chasing the airplane".

Investigation
The following version is written in the comments:
My guess is that this was a search and rescue operation over the lake, and during the search, a flare was used to illuminate a certain area.
Reinforcing it with the following news:
Over the past two weekends, the Canadian Armed Forces have provided lighting to ground search and rescue teams on Vancouver Island during nighttime rescue operations on the tops of two mountain peaks.
It is also pointed out that the US Air Force uses Lake Winnipeg for missile exercises (news from 2014, but probably such use may still be relevant)
Unfortunately, the exact date of the shooting is not specified, which makes it difficult to verify these versions.
