Namibian artist Max Siedentopf established in the coastal part of the Namib desert sound installation, which plays on repeat, a classic composition of soft-rock: Toto — Africa. Track 1982 was four times platinum and has also become one of the most popular songs in 2017, now it has collected more than 440 million views on YouTube.
As reported Seidentopf in interview "Bi-Bi-si", he hoped that the solar power song will play forever.
"I wanted to give the song the ultimate respect and to physically represent "Africa" in Africa, explains 27-year-old. Some [Namibian] really like, and some say that this is probably the worst sound installation in history. I think it's a great compliment."
The artist chose an unpopular place in the Namib desert, whose age is about 55 million years, and installed six speakers connected to an MP3 player with one track on it. Siedentopf hopes that the song will play another 55 million years.
"Most of the component parts of the installation were chosen in such a way that they could work out as long as possible, but I am sure that the harsh conditions of the desert will eventually destroy the facility."
But until then, only the most dedicated fans of Toto will be able to find this "treasure" in the sand, says the artist.
