An ashfall took place in Ust-Kamchatsk

Volcanic ash deposition was recorded in Ust-Kamchatsk this morning. 

The ash fallout began around 6:00 and lasted for more than four hours. People were advised not to leave their homes, and lessons were canceled at schools. Due to the heavy ashfall and the danger of mud flows from the volcano, on the morning of April 11, travel along the Milkovo-Klyuchi-Ust-Kamchatsk highway was temporarily suspended.

There is no power supply in the villages of Kozyrevsk and Mayskoye due to ashfall. In the same villages and the village of Klyuchi, water with ashes flows from the taps in the morning.

At the same time, there were no eruptions of nearby volcanoes. It is assumed that the ash could have been brought by the wind from the areas in which it settled after the April eruption of Shiveluch.


The clearing of the settlements affected last month is still ongoing.
