The Black Sea has turned red in the Krasnodar Territory

At the Black Sea coast, eyewitnesses noticed an unusual phenomenon – the sea suddenly turned red.

According to eyewitnesses who captured the phenomenon on camera, an unusual phenomenon appeared near the beach of the 40th anniversary of Victory and looks impressive.

According to experts, changing the shade of sea water to red tones does not pose any danger to people and the environment – it's just a natural phenomenon that is quite rare in nature.

A similar phenomenon has previously occurred on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory, when in the spring of 2021, in the area of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik, the sea took on a bright red color.

According to environmentalists, the water could have turned a similar color due to piles of red algae that were washed ashore by storm waves. Usually during this period of the year, macrophyte algae begin to bloom, which most likely caused an unusual phenomenon associated with a sudden change in the color of seawater. Fortunately, algae do not emit any harmful toxic substances and are not dangerous for local residents.

According to another version, the water turned red due to soil particles that were washed into the sea during heavy rains shortly before the appearance of this amazing phenomenon.

Every year, vacationers who have arrived on vacation in the Krasnodar Territory take pictures of the Red Sea, and the flowering period of bright algae is often observed in the northern part of the Black Sea — in Gelendzhik, Novorossiysk, Anapa.
