The most popular version of Nessie is the one that says that it is an ancient water lizard. More modern versions suggest that it may be an eel of huge size. Biologist Henry Bauer made a slightly different assumption.
Professor for a long time was engaged in the study of the monster from the Scottish lake Loch Ness and he finally managed to establish what exactly can be an elusive monster. Bower believes that for several centuries, people were afraid of the huge prehistoric turtles, a small number of which have survived in Loch Ness to this day.
The professor added that the turtles could have ended up in the lake by accident, due to the fact that the water level in this region used to be much higher. When the water subsided, the turtles were trapped in a kind of trap. But they managed to adapt to the new conditions of life.
Everyone knows that sea turtles can reach very impressive sizes even today. In ancient times, there were even giant individuals. The version of the prehistoric turtle seems to Bauer and some other experts more plausible than the story of an unknown aquatic dinosaur.
