The car flew in the sky over the Tomsk region

The flight of the glowing object was noticed by residents of the Tomsk region in the sky on October 17, the corresponding frames were published in social networks. An astronomer-observer of the Tomsk planetarium suggested that it was a bolide.

On October 17, eyewitnesses posted videos on social networks with a glowing object in the sky. Residents of the Tomsk region wrote that at night they observed a "meteorite" from Tomsk and Seversk, as well as from Teguldetsky, Asinovsky and Zyryansky districts.

"There is little information about this (phenomenon — editor's note). <...> Most likely, this is a car," the editorial office said vtomske.ru astronomer-observer of the Tomsk planetarium Evgeny Parfenov.

He suggested that, most likely, this object burned up in the atmosphere and did not have time to fly to Earth.

The authors of the AstroAlert group in VKontakte write that the car was spotted over the Tomsk region at 00:15 on Monday, October 17.

"At first it was "with a blue glow, followed by an orange glow." The duration of the flight was more than eight seconds — this indicates a low speed. At the end, multiple fragmentation of the falling body is visible. According to eyewitnesses from the Teguldet district, an explosion was heard (a shock wave was felt in Teguldet and Asino). It flew right over Seversk. There was a smoky trail, illuminated by the Moon. From Tomsk, it could be observed in the south-east of the firmament," the message says.

The group asked eyewitnesses of this phenomenon to share videos and photos. This information will help determine the trajectory of the celestial body and find out its nature.

The head of the Department of Protection of the population and Territory of the Tomsk region Sergey Lukin said vtomske.ru that information about any incident related to the fall of the car was not received by him.
