Rare, but quite understandable phenomenon. In the Chuvash Republic of April 29 was recorded in an unusual natural phenomenon — the black rain. The residents of the region shared the incident on social media.

The chief of Department of weather forecasts of the Nizhniy Novgorod hydrometeorological centre Olga Mokeeva has explained the phenomenon of the strong wind, picked up the dry topsoil, which fell to the ground along with moisture from the clouds.

"Extraordinary rains, which brought fish, and frogs, could be red or green — the phenomenon known. Any precipitation is associated not only with moisture that falls from the clouds: it is mixed with the wind, which could bring with it dirt, dust, sand. The local vortex can capture the ashes over a large fire to fall and then the dark rain" — Olga Mokeeva.

She noted that Chuvashia is located on the border of forest-steppe, where there is enough intense heating.

"There's just areas of black soil. In the last days was marked by windy weather. In open areas a strong wind could have picked up the parched topsoil, which still isn't much grass cover, and put it away. There is nothing supernatural, it is understandable," explained the meteorologist.
