An unusual lunar eclipse occurred on Friday. It became the longest private lunar eclipse since the 15th century. Astronomers noted that it was "almost complete", because almost the entire lunar disk was covered by the shadow of our planet.

Pyotr Dubov, who is now on the ISS, said that the most beautiful view opened from the porthole of the Russian module "Science".

In Russia, the eclipse could be admired in the Far East. It was visible in North and South America, in northern Europe, as well as in Indonesia.

Video and pictures of the phenomenon were published by Roscosmos. Experts said that they were obtained using equipment on the ISS and the Aist-2D space satellite for remote sensing of the Earth. As a rule, the cameras of this device are aimed at the Earth, and for images of other cosmic bodies, specialists change its orientation.
