Murmansk resident Grigory Paramonov, a professional photographer, who also takes pictures of the life of fauna, managed to capture an amazing "round dance" arranged by deer.
The shooting took place in Lovozer, where Deer Day was recently celebrated. The photographer took hundreds of artiodactyls within the enclosure. In the absence of the shepherd, the animals formed a herd and began to move smoothly along a circular trajectory.
The spectacle really resembles riding on a huge carousel or a round dance. More and more animals quickly join the first brothers who started circling.
Experts cannot yet explain exactly for what purposes graceful artiodactyls arrange such "choreographic mysteries". Perhaps it has something to do with ensuring the safety of the herd. Whatever it was, the "deer show" looks truly fascinating.
Website moya-planeta.ru describes the following explanation for this behavior:
We noticed that the deer huddled in a dense mass and run in a circle, like ponies in the circus arena. It turns out that this is how they escape from insects that poison the lives of not only people, but also deer. Periodically, the deer change places and those who were inside turn out to be outside.
Deer dances are also protection from the attack of predators. It only seems from the outside that chaos reigns in the herd, in fact, all the roles are very clearly distributed here: in the center are the weakest, i.e. women and children, adult bulls are moving around them, ready to fight back in case of an attack on the herd.
