In several regions of the country at once, residents decided to effectively use the vast snow-covered expanses to create giant New Year greetings. It is possible to see these messages completely only from a height.
The author of the idea was once an elderly resident of the Amur region, and now it has been picked up in some other regions. People take shovels, draw images of festive Christmas trees on the ice of reservoirs, congratulations, tamp it all down, fix it by watering with water.
According to the participants, it can take about four hours to create a large snow postcard. But this does not bother anyone, even if it is freezing at -50.
By creating such images, people not only celebrate the New Year in an unusual way, but also pay tribute to Valery Melnikov, or grandfather Valera, who was the first to create such "pictures" on the Khomutin River and did it for about 10 years.
