No, it wasn't the new jet that scorched Los Angeles last night.
According to the deputy director of the Griffith Observatory, Dr. C. K. Cleminshaw, it was a very bright meteor, known as a"fireball".
Dr Cleminshaw said the meteor was seen flying from east to west at about 19: 26, but it was difficult to determine if it had landed on Earth.
He asked that anyone who had seen the meteor and could accurately describe its path and apparent altitude contact officials at the observatory so that they could plot its path.
