The Cambridge city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and its surrounding area saw in the sky has flown by bright fireball. Some heard the sound of an explosion.
The meteor entered the stratosphere on Thursday, December 20, after 2:00 in the morning, swept over Cambridge and then headed East and disappeared over the Harris, told media observer, Pat Branch, which cooperates with the American meteor society.
Branch reported that the fireball probably would have been close enough to the Ground that it fell down a breakaway of a pea or charred crust. According to the Star Tribune, a meteor the size of a refrigerator was visible from a distance of more than 80 km from the place of its span.
One witness told the American meteor society that they saw a bright blue light, illuminating the trees as if they were lit Christmas lights. "I raised my head, and something like a large meteor, swept over me. After about three minutes he heard the sound of an explosion, from which the pheasants in the yard ran up and screamed" — he said.
Emergency services of Minnesota has received several complaints from residents who said they heard the explosion. A day earlier, another meteor flashed over the Bay Area of San Francisco.
