In October, a lawyer from Chicago discovered a photo of a mysterious hole in the woods — and posted it on Twitter in the hope of finding out what it is. The hole was so perfectly shaped that Photoshop was suspected in the comments.
By the end of December, the tweet noticed the tourist project Visit Estonia. Its authors jokingly suggested that the picture shows a hobbit hole or a portal leading to the guardian spirit of the Totoro forest.
But everything turned out to be much simpler: in fact, this is an art installation in the south of Estonia, made by Finnish artist Antti Laitinen. On his Instagram, you can find posts about working on a hole that interested Chicago lawyers.
Other works are also presented on Laitinen's Instagram. Almost all of them are connected with nature.
