June 4 in the magnetic field of the Earth there was a small "crack". It was enough that the solar wind could ignite auroras. John Ashley took this photo in Montana, USA.
"I was in glacier national Park, on the North fork of the Flathead river, says Ashley. — My camera was set to long exposure for shooting the milky Way."
But Ashley managed to capture not only the Aurora and the milky Way: the left of the picture is the Andromeda galaxy, Jupiter and to the right the wide green band is airglow.
Aurora in the depths of the sky barely visible to the naked eye, but when shooting with long exposure (over several seconds or more) look great. A similar picture can be seen mostly during weak geomagnetic storms when the young moon.
