A bright fireball flew over the Galicia region in northwestern Spain on Friday, April 16. The event was registered at 20: 10 GMT, lasted about 50 seconds and was visible in most of the country, according to <url>. The Watchers.

The meteor's flight became noticeable at an altitude of about 85 km over the province of Lugo, the fireball crossed almost the entire country and burned up over the Mediterranean Sea. The movement of the bright meteor caught on hundreds of surveillance cameras.

Experts from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) and researchers of the SMART project, who studied this phenomenon, came to the conclusion that the luminous celestial object was formed by an asteroid fragment that entered the atmosphere of our planet at a speed of about 61 thousand km/h.
