Last weekend, Earth passed through a meteor shower Lerida associated with comet Thatcher. Sunday morning in the Northwest of calgary in Canada Harlan Thomas witnessed the emergence of a huge meteor. According to Thomas, the fireball lit up the sky at 3:18 am and the trail of smoke from it was visible the whole 90 seconds. He said that he was able to observe and other meteors, but they were few — about 10-15 per hour.
Other observers around the world reported about 10 meteors per hour is a normal number for this stream. In previous years, the meteor shower was more numerous in 1982, the hour, the number reached 90.
