Every year in the second half of summer, numerous shooting stars can be observed. This is the Perseid meteor shower formed by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. Flying in orbit around the Sun, the space guest left a dusty tail behind her. When the Earth crosses it, numerous micro-specks (about a millimeter in size) burn up in the atmosphere with bright meteors.

The stars seem to fall from the constellation Perseus, which gave the name to the meteor shower. A very bright "star" in the east, Jupiter, can serve as a guide for observation. From it, you should take a little to the north, approximately at the same altitude.

The maximum of the Perseids falls on the night of August 12-13. This year, the average activity is predicted to be about 100 meteors per hour. However, it is unlikely to see everything. A full moon will make it difficult to observe. But it is quite possible to make 10-20 wishes!
