Employees of the reptile park in the Australian area of Somersby, New South Wales, were extremely surprised when a visitor found and handed them a rare two-headed lizard. The reptile was caught on a video posted on Instagram by reptile specialist Jay Brewer.

The recording shows a gigantic lizard, taken in close-up. The reptile has two heads and three eyes, one of which is located between the two heads and does not function.

The unusual find excited the park staff. The lizard was given the nickname Lucky. Now the reptile park experts are taking care of her.

"We will treat him as special," said Daniel Ramsey, head of the park's reptile department.

Previously, two-headed snakes and even sharks were found in the park, but no such deviations were recorded in lizards. The park said that animals with such abnormalities rarely survive due to difficulties with nutrition and inability to protect themselves from predators.

Giant lizards are not poisonous and are not dangerous to humans and animals. They show their blue tongue as a warning and can turn to the threat, hiss and flatten their own body to appear larger.
