The rarest two-headed cobra (spectacled snake) was found near the Indian city of Vikasnagar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This is reported by Firstpost.
In early August, the Forestry Department received a call with the message that a small snake was found in the Vikasnagar industrial zone. Adil Mirza, who has been saving reptiles for more than 15 years, went to the call.
Mirza was shocked when he saw a bespectacled snake with two heads.
"In 15 years of working as a zmeelov, I have never met such specimens. This is a very rare snake, " he said and clarified that the length of the snake was about 40 centimeters. The reptile was about two weeks old.
He sent the cobra to the animal rescue center at the Dehradun Zoo, where it is being examined by veterinarians. After a medical examination, doctors will decide whether to release the snake into the wild or leave it for further study.
Snakes with such an anomaly rarely survive in the wild. The formation of two heads is due to a mutation.
