Not far from Tyumen, where the Tura River crosses the Serovsky Tract, locals noticed an unusual phenomenon on the reservoir: on the surface of the water, the ice took the form of a regular circle.
Experts explain that such phenomena are characteristic of slow-flowing rivers and are associated with the concept of a vortex flow. Water layers with different temperatures, contacting, begin to twist, forming a funnel. This funnel eventually leads to the formation of perfectly round ice floes.
Naturalist Pavel Sitnikov also noted that the prerequisites for the emergence of a whirlpool include a large snag at the bottom.
As the whirlpool continues, it did not allow the edge of the ice floe to freeze, and gradually it acquired perfectly smooth outlines.
According to the naturalist, he had witnessed such a curious natural phenomenon no more than twice.
