French artist Olivier Grossetet, inspired by Michelangelo's unfinished plan, created a temporary installation over the Tiber River in the form of a bridge hanging on balloons.
The classic of the Renaissance himself created at one time an 18-meter platform above the reservoir, which was held with the help of three balloons. That bridge lasted only a few days.
Grossetet used cardboard for his brainchild. The new bridge is destined to last until July 18, then it will be dismantled and subjected to complete recycling.
The unusual project was supported by the French Embassy in Italy, as well as the French Institute in Italy and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the oldest Italian scientific academy.
According to French Ambassador Christian Masset, the Grossetet project is a "bridge" between Italy and France, symbolizing the common revival of European countries, as well as the continuity of ties between them.
The author himself noted that his creation is doomed to disappear, because its nature is as ephemeral as human.
