Last week, with the help of a robotic "hand", the ISS connected with the cargo ship S. S. Kalpana Chawla, which delivered the next supplies to the station. Shortly before joining the "partners" were in orbit over Iran, where astrophotographer Amir Ehteshami caught a unique manipulation.
According to Ehteshami, he was just lucky to take such a picture, because the space truck is the size of a car (only 5.1 by 3.07 meters), and it appeared against the background of the Sun for just a moment.
The photographer purposefully sought to capture the operation in orbit and for this purpose was going to install a telescope in the industrial city of Shiraz, but he could not get the necessary permissions for this. As a result, a quarter of an hour before the end of the ISS contact with the truck, Ehteshami hurried to the outskirts and managed to take a picture.
The cargo vehicle is named after an Indian-American woman, Kalpana Chawla, who died as part of the Columbia Shuttle crew in the winter of 2003.
