Initial data
1954, September 27, 20 p.m. FRANCE, Dep. JURA, the mountain village of Premanon, near the Swiss border.
Raymond Romand, 12 years old; his 9-year-old sister JANINE and two younger children.
The incident occurred on a rainy evening, on the farm of the Romand family, in an unpopulated area far from the center of the village.
Raymond Romand, who went out for a walk, saw a strange object in the farmyard, dimly shiny and similar to a vertical aluminum box.
"It was as tall as a door and glittered like a chiffonier with a mirror."
This object-or "creature"-approached the boy and gently touched him. The thing was cold; a frightened Raymond sat down on the ground, tried to call for help, but could not, fearing his parents more than "things". At that time, his sister Janine and two small children came out into the yard. Emboldened, Raymond grabbed the stones and began throwing them at the "ghost"
One of the stones hit something metallic and the object retreated. After leaving the farmyard, he approached the glowing reddish body in the pasture located at the foot of the hill, and this "fireball" soon took off.
The next day, police investigators from Saint Claude and Le Rousse found 4 triangular depressions on a completely flat surface at this point. In addition, a wooden fence was damaged and the crown of a pine tree was burned at a height of 1.5 m. Charles Garreau reports that within a leveled area 12 feet in diameter, the grass was pressed counterclockwise, and the flowers looked as if they were under pressure. The border of the circle was clearly outlined, and 4 indentations made up a square.
