"Sir Francis Chichester saw a UFO in 1931." page 36.
In his book "The Lonely Sea and Sky" ("The Lonly Sea and Sky") published in 1964, on page 185 by Sir F.Chichester describes an incident that occurred in 1931. during his solo flight from Lord Java Island to Sydney, about 140 miles from Sydney.
Suddenly, bright flashes appeared ahead at 30° to the left, similar to the rays of a heliograph. I saw a dim gray-white flying machine moving towards me.
It looked incredible, but I could have sworn that it was exactly an aircraft like an oblong pearl. Except for one or two clouds, there was nothing else in the sky. I looked around, attracted by flashes or reflections, and when I looked back at the device, I found that it had disappeared.
I rubbed my eyes, not believing it, and turned the flying boat, thinking that the device was obscured by a "blind spot". Blinding flashes continued in four or five hundred, but I did not see any devices.
Then, against the background of several clouds to my right, I saw another or the same moving airship.
I watched it intetently, determined not Look away fok a frakt on of a decord. I'd see what happend to this one, if I had to chase it.*
I watched him closely, deciding not to look away because of the violation of the decor. I'd see what happened to it if I had to chase it.
He approached within a mile and suddenly disappeared. Then he reappeared close to the place of disappearance. I was watching with great attention. He got closer and I could see a dim white light on his nose and back; as he got closer, instead of increasing in size, he shrank.
In my immediate vicinity, the object suddenly turned into its own ghost, for one second I could see through it, and then it disappeared.
I decided that I had encountered a small cloud, shaped like an aircraft and disintegrated, but it was clearly impossible for it to regain its former shape after that. I headed towards the flashes, but they too had already disappeared.
Hypotheses
Cloud (natural and man-made)
Clouds are the products of condensation of water vapor suspended in the atmosphere, visible in the sky from the surface of the earth. They consist of tiny drops of water and/or ice crystals (called cloud elements).
