Residents of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires witnessed an unusual "tornado", in fact, they turned out to be a huge swarm of mosquitoes, which flew into the sky, forming a funnel, reports <url> Daily Mail.
Eyewitnesses of the rare phenomenon filmed a whirlwind of insects that circled near Highway 74. The mosquitoes gathered in a swaying column about 100 meters high, which became increasingly dense and increased in size.
Earlier, residents of the province of Buenos Aires were warned about the spread of a large number of mosquitoes due to weather conditions. Experts from the Center for Parasitological and Epidemiological Research (CEPAVE) reported that heavy rains caused flooding, resulting in large pools of standing water where female mosquitoes laid eggs.
Within a short period of time, a huge number of insects are removed, which then invade the settlements. Experts believe that mosquitoes do not pose a threat to humans, but can interfere with agricultural activities.
People just have to wait 15 days, after this period, the insects will gradually disappear. Local residents were urged to use repellents and mosquito nets on doors and windows, and not to leave open water containers.
