A 40-foot-long humpback whale was discovered floating in the water off the coast of Staten Island.

Rob DiGiovanni, founder and chief scientist of the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, said that their non-profit organization is currently working with the authorities and the New York City Parks Department to figure out how to get the whale out of the water for examination and proper disposal.
