In the last week of April, a Pink supermoon will rise in the sky. On Monday, April 26, after sunset, you can watch a very bright full moon, according to AccuWeather.
This major astronomical event will be visible across the planet in cloudless weather. On Tuesday evening, the moon will appear almost full.
The term "supermoon" was created by astrologer Richard Noell in 1979. When the Moon makes a revolution around the Earth, there are perigees in its orbit — the points where it is closest to our planet. When a full moon occurs during perigee, the moon looks larger and brighter, which is why it is called a supermoon.
The April full moon in the United States is also called the Pink Moon. The name is associated with the pink flowers of grass moss, one of the earliest flowering spring plants in the eastern part of the country.
The next supermoon will be observed on May 26, 2021, and the last supermoon of the year is expected on June 24. On May 26, along with the supermoon, there will also be a total lunar eclipse.
