In the capital of the People's Republic of China, sandstorms are raging for the second week, the local meteorological agency NMC reports. Last Sunday, bad weather affected Beijing, the provinces of Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, as well as the port city of Tianjin in northeastern China.
The dust in the air made the landscape look like a Martian landscape — the sky turned shades of orange, and the sun turned blue.
The Beijing government decided to introduce increased security measures due to the strong wind carrying dust. The authorities asked citizens to reduce their stay in open areas and stay at home if possible.
According to Chinese meteorologists, visibility is less than a thousand meters, which means that it is quite dangerous to go on the highway. In addition, experts reported exceeding the normal indicator of air pollution by dozens of times.
The city authorities have imposed a ban on bonfires and the presence of citizens near tall houses, billboards, and road repair work has also been stopped.
