Recently, an unusual phenomenon was observed off the coast of the Sea of Azov, which made locals and tourists think about their visual abilities.
On the horizon of Yeysk, where water and sky meet, ghostly images of ships appeared, as if floating in the air. This phenomenal spectacle attracted the attention of RT journalists.
These ships floating in the air are the result of a rare optical phenomenon called fata morgana. Fata morgana occurs as a result of refraction of light when cold air is near the surface of the sea, and an area of warmer air is formed above it. This creates a layered structure in the atmosphere that distorts the rays of light and creates the illusion of other objects or images.
Mirages of ships floating in the air caused admiration and amazement among locals and tourists. Eyewitnesses photographed this spectacle, getting amazing pictures that quickly spread across social networks. Some have compared fata morgana to magic or mystical phenomena.
Fata Morgana is a studied phenomenon, but its appearance over the Sea of Azov is rare, and the locals are glad that they had the opportunity to observe such an incredible sight.
