NASA astronaut Scott Kelly has spent more time in space than most people, but he still managed to confuse a UFO with a balloon of one of the world's most famous cartoon characters.

Retired cosmonautics Captain Scott Kelly has completed several space missions during his career and commanded the International Space Station three times, including a record 340 days in space in 2016.

But it was during a panel discussion held at NASA headquarters on Wednesday to talk about how the organization plans to fight UFOs, he released information that one day, as he thought, he noticed them, although now NASA calls them NAR or unidentified aerial phenomenon.

However, this did not happen when he was in space or on the ISS, but during a flight on a Tomcat fighter of the US Air Force.

He said:

"I remember one time I was flying in the warning zone from the Virginia Beach military Zone, and my RIO - the guy who sits in the back of the Tomcat — was convinced that we had flown past a UFO. We turned around and went to look at it. It turns out it was Bart Simpson—a balloon."
