In one of the Brazilian cities fell "stone rain»

A huge number of people went to the city of Santa Filomena, which is located in the North-East of Brazil, after pieces of a meteorite began to fall from the sky, resembling a "stone rain".

To date, we have found about 200 pieces of the meteorite that fell on August 19. But experts are sure that there may be many more fragments. The largest "stone" reaches a weight of 40 kilograms. Its cost was almost 27 thousand dollars. This fragment was found on August 27.

Local residents after the incident considered the fall of the meteorite a miracle, because " money began to fall directly from the sky." Most of the large stones were found near the Church, so most people are sure that the meteorite was sent by God himself. It is worth noting that meteorite hunters came from different parts of Brazil just a couple of hours after the meteor storm. The city was also visited by professional collectors from Uruguay and the United States.

At the moment, scientists from the national Museum of Brazil are trying to agree on the cost of the largest stone. But if it is also hunted by American experts, then the stone will probably go to one of the museums in the United States.

It is generally assumed that the meteorite is a type of chondrite, the origin of which is related to the formation of the Solar system. Only 1% of meteorites can be attributed to this type, and samples of such stones can cost a lot of money. The largest officially registered chondrite reaches a weight of 1770 kilograms. It was extracted from a meteor shower that passed through Jilin in 1976. Such stones are extremely rare and therefore experts from different countries will fight to the last to get this piece of a space object or add it to the collection of a particular Museum.
