The sky over Northern California recently lit up with streaks of fire. The astonishing sight caused equally bewilderment, surprise and new conspiracy theories.

Experts said that the phenomenon was caused by the fall of flaming space debris into the Earth's atmosphere.

According to Jonathan McDowell, a well-known astrophysicist from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center, the garbage was thrown from the ISS, these are only parts of the communication equipment that failed back in 2020. In fact, the objects are very small, but they release a lot of energy when passing through the atmosphere, and this was the reason for such a bright spectacle. The expert clarified that this equipment had been orbiting the Earth like space debris for three years. And it was launched to the station back in 2009 on a shuttle.

McDowell said that such "stuffing" from orbit is a fairly regular phenomenon. However, it often goes unnoticed.
